A parallel effort on the marketing side is required to ensure that proper UFIR hardware support is available at the time the UFIR Special Interest Group completes it Specification development in 2005. This means that a group is being formed to market the UFIR concept and market opportunities to international hardware manufacturers capable of mass producing effective interfaces to accomodate digital data transfer rates between handheld and POS devices of up to 500mbps. The formation of this SIG was approved at the IrDA General Meeting on February 12 and 13, 2004, and is in the early stages of formation. The SIG is seeking participation from existing and new members from Asia, Europe and the United States. If you are interested, please contact Midori@irda.org.
